  • 10 year celebration - timeline!

In September of this year Drop Coffee turned 10 years old! A whole decade of Drop Coffee.  In celebration, and looking back on the time that has past, we (or rather our talented Lisa Hall) created this time-line with all of the highlights in Drops' history. It’s been such a delightful decade, from a brick in the wall to shipping coffee internationally every day, from handstand bags to boxes, from not brewing on scale to reading TDS on every coffee, from a 1,5 kilo Giesen to a 25 kilo Diedrich.  We are so grateful for every web-order, café guest and wholesale...

  • Price on label - ensure the coffee you drink is economically sustainable

Today we are taking another step in the direction of transparency, publishing the FOB-price for the coffee on every label, on every package of coffee we are sending out. FOB is the price of the coffee at the port at origin, before being shipped to us in Europe. We are sharing this, so you, as a consumer know what we have paid to the country that produced the coffee. The same measurement is used on the commercial market. At this time there are many coffee farmers going out of business due to the coffee price crisis, and we want to...

  • Drop Coffee - Transparency report 2018

We at Drop want to be open with you, our beloved customers. We are continually visting all of the producers we are buying from. We want to show you what the farms look like, what the producers are called and when the coffee was harvested. Knowing as much as possible about the product you are purchasing means that you, the customer, are in charge. You can decide what you buy and where your money is going. That is why we have made this Transparency report. We want to show you how much we are paying for the coffee that you are drinking. • Tips for the Coffee Roasting Championship

I represented Sweden in the World Coffee Roasting Championships last week in Rimini. Previous years I have placed second, third and fourth and there was no secret I wanted to bring home the gold to Sweden this time. I did not achieve that. A week after the competition, I am proud of my performance and that I gave myself the foundations to potentially do well in the World Coffee Roasting Championships.  I spent a lot of time preparing for the WCRC this year, in particular last few months. I practiced on the competition machine, studied green coffee defects, practiced the full run through to find...

  • New wholesale price list - colour and category

We have updated our wholesale price list to make it a little easier and more fun to order coffee. We all have different preferences and ways of making decisions and thinking about coffee. Therefore we are now adding more elements than the hard facts. From now on you can make your coffee decision from - category- colour- flavour description and facts   CategoryThe price list is divided into three categories; comfortable, curious and adventurous.  The category will describe the coffees flavour characteristics from a "cafe visitors" perspective. I love all of our coffees, they are just different in taste profile based on varietal...

  • C-market price for Arabica coffee under one dollar a pound

Sustainability is a broad word and an ongoing thing. Few coffees are fully sustainable in every aspect, but with a focus on sustainability, we can step by step make things better. One thing we, as a buyer, can impact the most is the payment for the producer. We can pay more for coffee. This is an ongoing process as a steady working model for both parties, but it is not overpricing or charity. However, as a green coffee buyer, there are situations where I chose not to buy a tasty coffee because 1) we, as a fairly small buyer, can't change the working...
