  • Specialty Coffee Transaction Guide Released

    The 2020 Specialty Coffee Transaction Guide was released last week out of Emory University. Its tables and figures rely on contract data from 81 roasters, importers, exporters, cooperatives, and producers headquartered in twenty different countries. These data summarize 51,000 contracts that cover roughly 1.09 billion pounds of green specialty coffee valued at more than $2.1 billion. A global market that allows individuals and organizations to buy green coffees as near-commodities and then sell them as differentiated, high valued-added products does not ensure adequate compensation for coffee producers, families, and communities.   • Our roastery is hiring

    Take this rare chance to join our small, quality-focused team at Drop Coffee Roasters. We are looking for a new production assistant to work one-on-one with our roastery manager at our roastery situated in Rosersberg. The production assistant is primarily in charge of packing coffee, packing and shipping orders, as well as assisting the roastery manager with daily and monthly tasks, including cleaning, inventory and deliveries.  The production assistant will also continuously be trained in roasting coffee, with an aim to be able to cover during sick leave, vacations etcetera, but also with the opportunity to roast frequently.     Here is the 2019 transparency report in full. This is mainly for producers being able to see how we are buying and for you as our customers to get an insight. The end goal is not for every customer to understand the data, but to spark conversations about why we need to pay more for coffee.     Drop Coffee is now an organic certified roastery! Meaning we can officially offer you organic coffee! We are starting with one of our favourite Ethiopian coffees - Hunkute! This is the same coffee as we have been buying for over five years, but now we are importing the certified organic lot since we are now an organic certified roastery and can sell it as an organic product.  We trust all of our producers, no matter if they are running a fully organic production or not.   • Visit from Hunkute, Sidama Union

    We're now releasing the coffee from Hunkute from Sidama Union in Ethiopia. It's a coffee we've been working with for many years and visited several times together with our green coffee source in Ethiopia, Nordic Approach. A few days back we had Tsegaye Anebo, manager of Sidama Union. At the top there is some picture, taken by our head of retail Jesper Hedlund.
