  • Updated boxes

You may have noticed that we have now updated the design of our boxes a little. Some general information about our coffee philosophy has made way for a more minimalistic look. The idea behind this is to the let coffee speak for itself more than before. Now only information specifically relevant to each coffee is present on the box as well as contact information, our hope is that this will shift more focus to the producers and each coffee’s defining qualities. We recently also charged the label of the coffee. Previously we used to market two flavours that we founded...

  • El Salvador 2016, summery of producers

Last year we focused a lot of energy on building long-term relationships, which means that we have cut down the number of origins we buy from in order to buy larger amounts from a few select producers. One of these aforementioned origins is El Salvador, where we are mainly working with four very different producers and coffees. Here's what we'll be releasing from El Salvador in the next couple of months! El Salvador is one of the countries suffering badly from leaf rust and, as a result, production at the farm level focuses a lot on prevention. This will mean that the...

  • "Espresso cups"

We're getting some comments on our cups at the shop not being the traditional espresso cups, some positive, some not so. So I  figured that I should write a few lines about that. All of our coffee, from espresso and cappuccino to filter coffee, is being served in thin porcelain cups. The short answer is simply because we find more flavour presented in the cup that way. The longer answer is below.  With a traditional espresso cup you perceive mainly two things: a thicker cup and slim cup.  The purpose with the thickness of the cup is mainly to keep...

  • Leaf rust, Bolivia and articles

These days we're in the Swedish media about the climate changes and leaf rust. We're currently in Bolivia, visiting the producers and tasting this harvest where the leaf-rust hit the country really hard three years ago. It takes a lot of support and structure to come back and you need to consistently work with it. On top of this Bolivia has legalised growing cocaine plant, which is easier to grow. We're working in a project called Sol de Mañana that is currently helping 30 farmers to fight leaf rust and improve quality and quantity. The farmers are getting theory and technical support and help to...

  • New in: Mohammed Lalo, Atnago, Ethiopia

This is the first year we’re buying from private farmers in Ethiopia. Mohammed Lalo seems to be a social and humble man, a loyal employer as caring about quality. Visiting his farm in December  2015 I was blown away about how fertile his farm was, by far the richest I’ve seen in Ethiopia. Mohammed Lalo  Together with our green coffee source Nordic Approach we spent a full day at Mohammed Lalos farm in Atnago in the Jimma region. At farm they have and average of 3300 trees per hecatare, which is a lot for Ethiopia. The farm was extremely kept...

  • Drop Coffee Shop re-opening

Since 2009 we’ve been serving coffee behind the same counter that was hand built by ourselves. We came to a point where we wanted to step up a level; for the atmosphere for our guests and the working space for our baristas and to match the Drop Coffee brand even more.  We took help from the the loveliest and talented architects Mårten Lindgren and Jennifer Lindstedt at Moodus (also having their own café called AB Café at Telefonplan). We gave them our dreams and they made something even prettier out of it. We’ve been taking down walls, building up a bar,...
