  • Swedish Aeropress Championships 2017 - competitors information

    Welcome to The Swedish Aeropress Championship 2017 hosted by us at Drop Coffee. There is 40 places available for competitors. The event is open to everyone to enjoy and have a fun together. Here is all the info for the competitors participating.

    General information
    Competition Fee:
    300 SEK (buy this product to compete)
    First Place: A trip to Shanghai to compete in the World Aeropress Championship

    Set times for competitors 
    Meet up for competitors:
    1pm, Saturday 2nd of Sept at Drop Coffee Roasters, Vretenborgsvägen 17, Hägersten. Be on time! 
    Access to competition coffee:
    Saturday the 2nd of September at 1:15 pm 
    Practice time: 1:15pm-3pm 
    Competition time: Starting at 3pm 
    To bring: Your own lovely personality 

    Competition coffee
    Astrid Medina lot 10 (on 24 kilos). It’s a fully washed Caturra from Tolima in Colombia from our raw coffee sponsor Nordic Approach. ”Astrid Medina won the Cup of Excellence in Colombia in 2015, and this also helped to give the growers in Tolima the reputation and attention they deserve. Astrid and Raul are very switched on and open-minded, always wanting to improve their product. They are keeping the farm in perfect condition, and cons

Very excited to have this very coffee to the competition and we promise to try roasting it for clarity and present most of the cups. Please comment below if you’ve got some questions.

    The coffee will be roasted five days before the competition. None of the competitors will have tried the coffee before the competition day at 1pm. The coffee is roasted by Joanna Alm at Drop Coffee Roasters. 

    Brewing equipment
    We will set up three equal brewing station for the competition. These are installed and dialed in by our equipment sponsors, Espresso Specialisten. 

    Every competition stations area will have
    Water tower: BUNN H5 
    Grinders: BUNN G2 (same as World Brewers Cup i Budapest)
    Water filter: BWT Bestmax Premium
    Each station will have an Aeropress to borrow and a Kalita kettle for pouring. 

    Outside of the competition area we've got an EK43 grinder and a spare water tower that you may use.
